Overview

The Mary Porter Sesnon Art Galleries are a dynamic education and cultural resource at UC Santa Cruz. We share the research and practices of our faculty, students, and other leading artists with our campus, alumni and the public through exhibitions and programming. With an emphasis on experiential learning, we offer students object based-learning, skills in close looking, critical thinking, and professional development opportunities. A deep belief in the arts as a force for social change informs our exhibitions and education programs, which foster cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusiveness.

People

The Mary Porter Sesnon Galleries serves as a laboratory and a space to showcase the creativity and scholarship of UCSC students, faculty and alumni. The Sesnon Galleries deepens university students’ engagement with the arts through a variety of programs and professional opportunities. Faculty in the Arts Division are invited to reserve a tour for their students to the Sesnon Galleries, and present their research through exhibitions and programs such as the Sesnon Salons. We invite Alumni to share their accomplishments through exhibitions and to inspire our students through workshops, conversations, and programs
